Lemon juice: Lemon is probably a hybrid between pomelo and citron. The part most used is the juice; it contains citric acid, which gives it its characteristic sour taste, and ascorbic acid (or vitamin C). Lemon juice gives the product a very pleasant taste and improves digestive function.
Birch: This is very sturdy tree, which was used to build boats and components of shoes, as it is impermeable. The extract from its leaves increases the drainage of excess fluids and has purifying functions.
Melilot: Due to its pleasant hay aroma, it was often sown together with fodder for cows to give their milk a sweeter flavour. It contains flavonoids, tannins and coumarin glycosides, which by enzyme hydrolysis release coumarin.
Dandelion: The name is derived from the French ‘dent-de-lion’ meaning “lion’s tooth” due to the toothed shape of its leaves; it is also known as “clock flower”, as it was believed the time could be told with its fluffy puff-ball, and “piss-in-bed” due to its diuretic properties. It improves purifying function, which make it useful in a weight loss regime.
Wasabi: Also known as Japanese radish, the extract from its roots have considerable digestive properties, which is the reason why it is eaten with raw food in Japanese restaurants.
