Honey: This is produced by bees from the nectar of flowers. They use it both as a nutrient and to produce beeswax, needed for building the hive. It is rich in simple sugars (fructose and glucose), easily assimilated and contains enzymes, vitamins and trace elements.
Baobab: Almost all parts of this tree are used. In Africa, the leaves are used as an edible vegetable, the dry pulp of the fruit is eaten and the seeds are used as a thickener in soups. It improves the function of the upper respiratory airways and exterts a support and tonic action.
Chokeberry: The fruits of the chokeberry may look similar to blueberries, but the taste is very different and much more sour. The berries, rich in anthocyanins, not only have antioxidant properties, but also boost the body’s defences and have a tonic action.
Ginger: This is a herbaceous plant with a fleshy, branched rhizome, which is native in the Far East. It has been used in Italian cuisine for several years. It is rich in gingerols, and is know for combating localised tension and nausea.
Echinacea purpurea: The name of the plant comes from the Greek meaning “hedgehog”, in reference to the shape of the flower heads. It contains different substances (including polyphenols, polysaccharids), which support the body’s natural defences and upper respiratory tract.
Selenium: Selenium is a trace element and essential nutrient involved in numerous biological functions, the main being those connected toits role in defending cells from oxidative damage.
Thyme: This is an aromatic plant with green coloured leaves with a very strong aroma. It contains an essential oil and other substances that improve the fluidity of bronchial secretions and maintain nose and throat health.
Mint: This aromatic herb with an intense flavour gives the product a very pleasant taste as well as offering benefits to the upper respiratory tract.
Eucalyptus: This is an evergreen tree with rapid growth (it can reach a height of 90 metres). Eucalyptus essential oil is extracted from the leaves. This exerts an emollient and soothing action on oropharyngeal mucosa, as well as having a balsamic effect.
Manuka: This is a plant native to New Zealand and Australia. Cultivation of this plant has increased in Italy because of the honey that bees make from it. The essential oil extracted has beneficial effects on upper respiratory tract and increases fluidity of bronchial secretions.
