According to the National Institute of Health, in Italy, 15% of couples have reproduction difficulties.

Fertility: what are the underlying causes?

Analysing the statistics reveals that women attempt to become pregnant are considerably older than in previous years.  In fact, one of the main risk factors is age. If the woman’s age cannot be changed, professionals can intervene on other risk factors. For example, an irregular menstrual cycle and/or an alteration in inositol levels, factors often related to fertility problems.

Which women can we target?

Three types of women can be distinguished:

  • Women who have been trying to become pregnant for less than a year ago, without success.
  • Women who want to regularise their cycle to increase the likelihood of a future pregnancy in the short term.
  • Women who are not looking for an immediate pregnancy but want to regularise their cycle to improve both the insulin resistance condition associated with it and facilitate a future pregnancy.

Fertility : How can we tackle this?

The first step we can take for these women is to make them better aware of some physiological aspects, and not only, of their condition. Let’s look at some examples:

  • We can explain the different phases of the menstrual cycle and how to identify the most fertile period, during which the probability of getting pregnant is greater.
  • Recommend an inositol supplementation. This with a dual objective, first of all to restore the levels of altered inositols, at the ovarian level, in women who know they have an alteration of these sugars (often identifiable by some specific characters, such as hirsutism, weight gain, reduced libido, etc.).

Secondly, inositol intake also increases the oocyte quality making them suitable for all women(1).

Inositols are sugars of fundamental importance for women in their childbearing years. Have you heard of them? Please read our article.

  • Not just folic acid: when we talk about pregnancy, the first thing that comes to mind is the need for proper folic acid supplementation. However, this is not the only essential vitamin for a healthy pregnancy; there are other vitamins and minerals that we can recommend to promote fertility. For example: zinc, manganese and folic acid.

Nutrafertil: the combination of science and nature

Donna Nutrafertil

Nutrafertil is a food supplement based on inositols (in a recommended ratio, that is, the ratio of My-inositol and D-Chiro-Inositol is 101:1), vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin B6 and B9, Manganese and Zinc that promotes fertility and Maca (Lepidium meyenii). The latter is also the subject of specific studies that have shown the ability of this extract to stimulate ovulation and improve fertility (2).

How to take it

Take 2 stick packs per day, 12 hours apart and for at least 3-4 months. Depending on the problem, the treatment can be extended even longer.

To whom should it be recommended

Nutrafertil can be recommended to women who are attempting to become pregnant, but not only, also to women who need to regularise the menstrual cycle and/or hormonal activity.

What if they find out they’re pregnant?

No problem, Nutrafertil is safe even in the early stages of pregnancy. The integration of folic acid with the product immediately promotes the growth of maternal uterine tissues, which occurs during pregnancy.
